Events

WHEN : Every Thursday at 1:00pm (3:00pm EST)
WHERE: Virtual, so listen from anywhere. Here is where you can sign up.
WHAT THIS IS: The co-founders of Indivisible, Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, hold a weekly call. They give a summary of what they see as priority actions for local groups to take as well as do a Q&A for group leaders and members who are on the call live. They are well worth your time and are where our local group gets most of our direction for what to focus on.
It's fun to be on the actual call, but if you can't join on Thursday afternoons, they are always posted to YouTube to watch afterwards. Click on the What's the Plan? playlist and you'll see each one labeled with the date it occurred.

New Paragraph
WHEN : Thursday 4/23 from 7pm to 8:30pm
WHERE: Salt Lake City Public Library
210 East 400 South, Salt Lake City
WHAT IT IS: Elected officials generally hold town halls to hear from their constituents. Our electeds in Utah have been hesitant to do this, so we are holding an "empty chair" town hall for Senator John Curtis. He has been invited to attend, but if he doesn't, we will still have a fantastic lineup of speakers to discuss the current state of education in Utah and across the country in the wake of Trump's dismantling of the Department of Education and other damaging program cuts.
Here is the Zoom link for the event. And here is a form you can fill out to submit a question that the event organizers will be sure is sent on to Senator Curtis in the likely event that he doesn't attend.

WHEN : Thursday 5/1. Time TBD
WHERE: Also TBD. We will update you as soon as our plans are set!
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING: This is a nationwide day of protest for the organization 50501, which aligns with the values and goals of Indivisible. We try to support them whenever we can. There will be an event at the capitol in Salt Lake City (details there also TBD). Our hope is to have a Utah County event for any of these nationwide protests, but because this is on a weekday, the planning has been trickier. Contrary to a lot of the MAGA community's claims, most of us do in fact have jobs that keep us busy during that time.

WHEN : Saturday 5/3 from 12pm to 3pm
WHERE: Utah State Capitol South Steps
WHAT IT IS: This creative twist on a standard protest is focusing on the ways that MAGA policies have figuratively killed so many things we hold dear in America along with protesting the actual harm and literal deaths that will result from many of Trump's recent program cuts and problematic policies. Attendees are even invite to make tombstone-shaped signs and posters highlighting issues that concern them most.

WHEN : Thursday 5/8 @7pm
WHERE: American Fork City Library
64 South 100 East
American Fork, UT 84003
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING: Our group meets once a month to plan and discuss upcoming events. We do a lot of this within the Facebook group as well, but it's a wonderful thing to connect in person and actually be together.
Our agenda for May's meeting is mostly to assign out specific tasks and committee roles. Many of you have expressed the desire to help and do more, and as our group is growing we certainly need to get everyone we can on board. We would love to see you there!
